Known as a “second home for Highway 9,” Colonial Charters Golf Club, located northwest of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand, in Longs, South Carolina, is that happy place where everyone yearns to be and where everybody knows your name. You can count on genuine friendliness and camaraderie at this Myrtle Beach golf course where the golfing is simple yet engaging. Easy, laid back, simple, local-friendly – this sums up the Colonial Charters experience!
Nestled up against a picturesque woodland backdrop, the Colonial Charters course is a “shotmaker’s course with options.” It is beginner-friendly and caters especially to women, juniors, and seniors. It’s a destination course for people who want to go to someplace relaxing, where they can kick back and enjoy their time with friends and family. You’ll often see three generations out on the putting green: grandparents, parents, and grandchildren.
A laid back ambiance combined with rigorous attention to outstanding customer service is the winning formula that has attracted a strong, loyal membership – nearly 190 – and everyone is invited to join. During the winter season, our 200+ regular visitors enjoy our low monthly “Pay & Play” winter member rates.
Originally designed in 1988 by John Simpson, Colonial Charters Golf Club enjoyed more than a decade of success. After declining for several years under different ownership as an entity called Palmetto Greens, the facility was purchased in 2013 by a new owner, rejuvenated, and reopened in August of that year under its original name, Colonial Charters. Happily, Colonial Charters now boasts a large membership and has been reinstated as a course worth playing in the Myrtle Beach area.
It’s no wonder that two months after reopening in 2013, Colonial Charters won “Best Golf Course for the Money” Best of the Beach award by the Sun News. Come see for yourself!
The course is 18 holes and an unusual par 71. The 6427-yard layout with four tees makes it friendly for golfers of all ages and handicaps. TifDwarf Bermuda greens ensure smooth-rolling putts. Colonial Charters also features a chipping and putting green, plus a driving range. Juniors age 15 and under play free with a paying adult. PGA staff members, including a locally legendary trick-shot artist, are available for lessons.
